On February 8, 2025, the Indaba Hotel in Fourways buzzed with excitement as the Akani Simbine Foundation officially launched, marking a significant milestone in our mission to uplift underprivileged communities through sport and education. Founded by sprint sensation Akani Simbine and his wife, Terisa, the foundation is dedicated to developing sports in township schools and assisting vulnerable children.  

The evening spotlighted our flagship initiatives, including the 919 program, designed to identify and nurture young athletic talent, and the MiDesk project, which provides innovative portable desks to students lacking proper study environments. These endeavors underscore our commitment to creating opportunities and leveling the playing field for all children, irrespective of their backgrounds.

An inspiring highlight was the auction of autographed spikes from Akani Simbine, Caster Semenya, and Wayde van Niekerk, to support our programs. The launch not only celebrated our foundation’s inception but also showcased the tangible impact on students who, through our support, are now empowered to reach their full potential. The event served as a powerful reminder that, together, we can drive meaningful change and build brighter futures.
