In 2025, the team from the Akani Simbine Foundation had the privilege of participating in the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation South Africa and Mercedes-Benz South Africa Incubation Hub, a six-month capacity-building programme designed to support and strengthen non-profit organisations using sport to drive social impact.
The hub provided structured workshops, mentorship, and networking opportunities aimed at helping organisations build strong governance, remain compliant, and develop sustainable, long-term programmes.
Through this experience, our team gained valuable knowledge on responsible organisational growth, financial and operational compliance, how to create a sustainable ecosystem that gives back to communities with clear purpose and intention and formed relationships with other NPOs. These learnings played a significant role in improving how we plan, structure, and manage the day-to-day operations of the Foundation.
As an organisation, we are committed to continuous learning and to understanding the evolving non-profit landscape so that we can better serve our beneficiaries and partners. Programmes like the incubation hub allow us to grow not only in scale, but in accountability, transparency, and long-term impact.
We are proud to have completed the programme and officially graduated in February 2026, marking an important milestone in our journey toward building a stronger, more sustainable foundation.
